HOLISITIC COUNSELING
Somatic experiencing (SE) is unlike any counseling that you’ve tried before. SE explicitly utilizes the mind-body connection and focuses on creating a consciously felt sense of safety in the body for you as the participant. The process of SE is unique and specifically tailored to each individual, but in general, the technique can be used to bring regulation to a body that is under stress, either from daily stressors like work and family or more intense stress such as trauma. Working with stress and trauma is a delicate task and requires a gentle, noninvasive, and welcoming approach. SE is currently the best possible approach for this; if it weren’t, we would be doing whatever is best.

The divorce rate among married couples that participated in premarital counseling is significantly lower than the divorce rate of those who did not. This statistic is largely telling about the importance of having an impartial third party mediate conversations of what marriage will hopefully look like for you and your fiancé. In the midst of wedding planning, the infatuation of love, and the stress of day-to-day life, it is critical to express what each of you would like marriage to be like before embarking on that adventure. My wife, Erin, and I have provided countless couples with the questions and conversations needed to begin marriage strong and on the same page, buffering the realization that you are two different people with two different perspectives.
